The Dreaded Hangover

After an evening of overindulgence, drink at least a pint of water before going to bed.

If you feel hungover when you wake up the next morning, take two aspirin (or aspirin substitutes) and drink another pint of water. Then eat a bland breakfast, including coffee or tea-the caffeine will make you feel alert and expand the blood vessels to relieve a headache.

Rumors to the contrary, drinking black coffee will not speed the rate at which alcohol is removed from your bloodstream, but it will provide your body with some much needed fluid and make you feel more alert.

To hasten the body's return to normal metabolism, drink lots of fruit juice; besides providing fluids, it adds calories-both things the body desperately needs to recover.

These are the tips I have for a hangover. Anyone else have some home remedies for a hangover please share!

Drink home brew. Done. All and more of the B6 & B12 a body needs to replace what is expelled.

I have given up on those party days, but I have plenty of stories to tell about it. I know my niece can manage to drink a beer and get a hangover almost instantly. I am amazed how different the body can react, its kind of mysterious.

I haven't had a hangover in a long time. I usually know when I need to stop, because having a hangover is the worst feeling. I even went to the emergency room one morning because I felt so bad! No joke!
Thank you for the advice. I heard about the water and try to drink some at night, but usually I forget. I have also heard that you could take your advil at night (with the water) instead of the morning.

I have given up on those party days as well clarkdart, I found that only time would help to clear the head and make me feel better. No amount of fluid or food would help. I usually perked up around noon the next day, just in time to start all over again. Whew!!! How did I survive those year?

Eat something filling before drinking.
Eat a greasy, fatty meal when you leave the bar.
Gatorade and LOTS of water when done drinking before bed.
Sleep in a comfortable position in a hot room and sweat it out.
Wake up and have a beer if you are still feeling a little hungover.

Problem solved.

I never do get a hangover no matter how much I drink. I have been lucky like that all my life, but then, I drink a lot of water during the day and also before going to sleep.

Hangovers are usualy caused by dehydtration. I agree with drinking lots of water prior and after drinking. I also used to drink some rum in my coffee also helps. lol

Bingo, dehydration is the key and tons of people over look it. A friend of ours has a mini fridge in his bedroom (he is a bachelor after all) and keeps bottled water stocked for the party nights.

Lol!

But yes, lots of water. If you're a smart drunk (;)), you'll drink water throughout your night of binging, too, so that the chances of even being hungover in the morning are greatly reduced. If you can remember, set out a glass of water on your nightstand before you start the night so that either before you crash, you can guzzle it down, or in the morning when you're still trying to pull yourself out of bed, it's ready for you to sip.
