I can definitely attest to psycadelic/hallucinogenic properties of my mead, and some others that I've tried. I've also found that I become somewhat immune to it if I drink mead regularly. I just had some recently after not having drank mead in many months, and I had a more intense experience than usual. I should preface this by saying, I'm super sensitive to any types of drugs (yes, alcohol is a drug too) and I have very limited drug experience (other than alcohol), so I don't have much to compare it to. My mead experience that I call slightly hallucinogenic is as follows: My mind feels extremely active, and I feel a buzzing behind the eyes. There's a definite 'floaty' feeling, too, and when I move I'm not always sure I have complete control over my body. When I close my eyes images flash at me - mostly when I'm sitting or laying still in a dark room.
